MYTH: Idling is more fuel efficient than restarting the car

Should you idle your car or just shut it off?
Some car myths just won't  go away. They're passed down from generation to generation, even though they've always been wrong. Other ones used to be true, but are no longer the case, given the big advancements in technology. Here's one that might have been true in the past, but is not obsolete.

MYTH:  Idling is more fuel efficient than restarting the car.

FACT: When a car is warm (as it will be if you've been driving), it uses less fuel to turn it off and restart the engine than it does to idle for long waits. It takes almost no fuel to restart your engine if it is already warm.
